RE: CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19)
Chief Glenn Hudson and Council would like to address the community members to ensure that we are implementing the safest action plan to help limit the spread of COVID-19. If we can reduce social interaction, clean commonly touched surfaces, frequently wash hands, and practice self-isolation when feeling symptoms, it can create a drastically different situation if COVID-19 reaches Peguis First Nation.
Peguis Health Centre will be in charge of the Peguis Pandemic Planning Committee with the full support of Peguis leadership. As the COVID-19 pandemic evolves, members have the ability to slow the spread and minimize the impact on our community.
On March 11, 2020, the World Health Organization (WHO) assessed COVID-19 as a pandemic. Social distancing strategies are now being recommended to all Manitobans to limit the spread of COVID-19.
Those at the greatest risk of severe outcomes include those over 65 years of age, those with underlying medical conditions and those with compromised immune systems. Public health officials are also reminding all Manitobans to frequently wash their hands, cough and sneeze into their sleeves and to stay home when feeling symptoms.
If you have travelled outside of Manitoba, experience fever, cough, shortness of breath or have symptoms of a respiratory illness (regardless of travel), even if mild, stay home and contact the Peguis Health Centre at (204) 645-2169.
