Distribution of fish to Peguis First Nation members started today.
Peguis Chief and Council and our pandemic planning team working with Fisher River Cree Nation Chief and Council and Freshwater Fish Marketing Corporation are providing 1 – 5kg box of fish for each member.
“This is a great initiative, given the opportunity to provide food sovereignty through providing fish for our members during this pandemic is a blessing. Leadership wants to acknowledge Fisher River Cree Nation leadership and neighbours for this initiative.” said Chief Glenn Hudson. “This is a great day for Peguis First Nation and our members to receive this gift of fish.”
Peguis First Nation would like to thank our pandemic planning team, Fisher River Cree Nation and Freshwater Fish Marketing Corporation for making this initiative a reality on behalf of all First Nations’ communities.
Fish can last for up to 2 years if kept frozen safely. Frozen fish will be good until October 2022.
For members that could not pick up fish today or our supply ran out, there is another shipment of fish being delivered. Members can call the Peguis COVID-19 Hotline at (204) 645-2869 for more information and provide your name, contact information and how many members in your household. You will be notified when the next shipment of fish arrives.
