On Wednesday, September 9, 2020, Peguis Public Health was notified two members, in Peguis First Nation, were in close contact with a potential COVID-19 case. The two Individuals immediately began self-isolating and being monitored for symptoms daily by nurses.
These individuals received rapid testing at the Percy E. Moore Hospital on September 11, 2020. The results of these tests were positive. Their samples will be forwarded to the provincial public health laboratory for confirmation. If results are confirmed to be positive, Peguis Public Health will notify members.
Peguis Public Health will continue contact tracing and advise any community members who may need to isolate. We will continue to keep members informed with any updates.
Peguis Public Health is asking our members to refrain from posting concerns or reporting individuals on Facebook, as it can lead to panic and stress.
Leadership reminds community members that our team has been preparing for this situation and we are implementing the safest action plan to help limit the spread of COVID-19. Members are asked to continue to practice what is working for us:
- Wear a face mask in public
- Social distance
- Clean commonly touched surfaces
- Frequently wash hands for 20 seconds
- Self-Isolate when symptomatic
- Avoid contact with sick individuals
If you have travelled outside of Manitoba, experience fever, cough, shortness of breath or have symptoms of a respiratory illness (regardless of travel), even if mild, stay home and contact the PEGUIS COVID-19 HOTLINE at (204) 645-2869 or peguiscovid19@outlook.com.
Thank you,
Peguis Public Health
