Peguis First Nation is excited and pleased to announce the purchase of 3 three new play structures for our community.  Peguis has a great need for recreational sites to be located strategically throughout our community.  We have purchased the play structures from Playgrounds-R-Us, they will supply and install the play structures.  Playgrounds-R-Us are experts in their field and will be installed professionally.  The location of the play structures, was determined on the potential usage, population in a concentrated area and our treaty grounds being developed as a recreational area.

Three locations have been identified to receive a play structure, they are as follows:

Peguis Treaty Grounds – the Peguis Treaty Ground site will be the largest play structure as this is a central location and there will be lots of fun being had at the treaty ground site.  It will also complement the new Splash Pad right next door and kids can play at both structures.

Peguis Outdoor Track – This site was selected because there is already recreation infrastructure started at the track and ball diamonds.  This site also promotes healthy living as parents can walk or run the track while their kids can play at the play structure.  When there is baseball, kids will have a place to play and enjoy.

South Housing Development (Pliska) – this site was chosen due to the high numbers of children in this area, with the housing development.  A south site is needed for the community for recreational purposes.  This site will not be completed until next Spring due to the amount of site preparation that is needed.

This is a start to developing recreational areas in Peguis and our goal is to provide additional structures for more sites throughout our community in the future.  We are proud of this exciting project for our Youth, Families and Community.  We hope and are asking the new play structures are respected and cared for so that they will last and be enjoyed by all.

Special Thanks to Peguis Chief and Council, Cheryl Bear, Project Manager for the play structures, Peguis Community Well Being Program, Peguis Surrender Trust for funding the Treaty Ground play structure and all of our Public Works employees.
