COMMUNITY NOTICE
Peguis Central School
RE-Opening Plan
Restoring In Class Instruction
Effective Monday, January 31st, 2022 for Nursery – Grade 12 Students
As our community works through the tasks of combatting and containing the recent Covid 19 outbreak, the Peguis Central School as well have been very busy addressing the safety of school facilities. A great deal of planning has taken place, significant investments have been made and measures have been introduced to prevent the spread of Covid 19 in our school to resume in person learning for all our students. Throughout the pandemic, Peguis Central School administration and with support and guidance of the Chief and Council and Peguis Pandemic Team continue to review all safely plans and contingency plans to ensure that they are up to date in order to respond to the ever-changing pandemic.
After consultation with Chief and Council, Peguis School Board and Pandemic Team it has been recommended to open in-school instruction to all students in grades N-12. Therefore all classes for Peguis Central School will resume on Monday, January 31, 2022.
As our community has moved to a level 3 Pandemic response to addressing the Covid 19 health measures, which is more aligned with the Provincial health orders. (see website: https://www.edu.gov.mb.ca/k12/covid/#rapid) the Provincial schools have all been open for in-school classes from January 17, 2022. The enhanced safety measures for Peguis Central School include enhanced screening procedures for parents, staff, students and transportation. Also, all students and staff are provided with N95 masks which is a higher quality of mask to provide more protection. Parents and students have access to rapid test through the Peguis Health Centre and are encouraged to use if experiencing symptoms. The Teachers with secondary homes off reserve have been provided with rapid tests and are required to use them prior to attending to the school facilities.
It is imperative that Parents use the pre-screening checklist provided prior to students boarding buses or attending school. We require the assistance of our Parents and their continued support in keeping our children safe.
We understand that there is much concern for our students as we return to in school instruction. There is no doubt that we must learn to live within the restrictions and health guidelines of this Pandemic. We continue to stress the importance of the fundamentals of handwashing, sanitizing, social distancing and wearing a mask.
Remote Option: We recognize that some parents may feel apprehensive to sending their children to in school instruction therefore, the Peguis Central School will continue to offer remote delivery. Parents who opt for remote packages must contact the students homeroom teacher to ensure that the students are registered to receive packages.
As we maneuver throughout this pandemic, the education authority is well aware that the best way to deliver educational services to our students is through in-class instruction. Our students are anxious to get back to a normal routine for educational services as the extended closure has been a very isolating experience and may have impacts upon mental wellness.
We miss our students and look forward to seeing them back to in school.
