“Ogimah-win” which translates to Leadership Life Swearing in Ceremony for Peguis Chief and Council was held on Friday, May 10, 2019 at the Peguis Arena Multiplex. The traditional ceremony celebrates the inauguration of Chief and Council, the process of swearing a leader into office.
Invited guests included AFN Regional Chief Kevin Hart, Chief Dennis Meeches, Chief David Traverse, Tim Daniels CEO for Treaty One Kapyong Project, Leah Gazan NDP elect for Winnipeg South, Red Cross representative for Peguis Shawn Feely, Karl Zadnik CEO for IRTAC, Tom Navakshonoff – previous MLA of Interlake Region. Loud Eagle Drum Group performed during the ceremony.
Chief Glenn Hudson was gifted an Otter Skin hat which represents his traditional name Golden Eagle. This hat was specifically made for Chief Glenn Hudson following the design of the traditional hats worn by our Leaders from the past.
A feast followed the ceremony for those in attendance.
