COMMUNITY NOTICE
ELECTION DAY – APRIL 6TH , 2023

The Peguis First Nation election this year will not include any advanced polls. It will be a one-day vote in Winnipeg, Selkirk, and the Community. The voting will take place from 9 a.m. till 7 p.m. at all polling locations.

The polling locations are as follows:
1) Peguis First Nation, Peguis Community Hall, 9:00am-8:00pm
2) Winnipeg, Hilton Hotel, 1800 Wellington Ave, 9:00am-8:00pm
3) Selkirk, 240 Main Street, 9:00am-8:00pm

If you voted at an advance poll, you will need to attend a polling location on April 6th, 2023. OneFeather, our election consultant, has advised that the advanced poll was not secure and therefore, those ballots have been nullified. We hope this does not cause any confusion or inconvenience.

There will be a security presence at all of the polling locations. There will be Peguis security both inside and outside of the polling location to ensure that all voters are able to exercise their right to vote free of any campaign materials, literature, or candidates. You will be asked to show your identification to qualify as a voter, be escorted to the ballot box and then asked to leave upon completion of voting.

There will be no campaigning at the polling sites. There will be no ability for anyone to stay or linger at the polling site. The individual voter will be expected to cast their ballot and then exit the polling locations.

The ballots from Winnipeg and Selkirk will be transported by the returning officer with Peguis security in accompaniment to the Peguis First Nation for the vote count. The counting will take place upon the arrival of all of the ballots. The count will continue until such time as a newly elected Chief and Council have been determined.

We encourage everyone to vote. If you need assistance with voting, please contact Lawrence Lewis, Electorial Officer, OneFeather at (250) 384-8200 or support@onefeather.ca.
